Withdrawal Policy

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) recognizes that authors may occasionally need to withdraw a manuscript after submission. To maintain an efficient, transparent, and ethical editorial process, the journal establishes this policy to regulate manuscript withdrawal before publication and to clarify the responsibilities of authors and the editorial team.

1. Withdrawal Before Peer Review

Authors who wish to withdraw a manuscript before the peer-review process begins must submit a formal written request to the editorial office. The request should identify the manuscript title, submission reference number, and reason for withdrawal. The editorial team will review the request and confirm the withdrawal. Authors should not assume that a manuscript has been withdrawn until they receive official confirmation from the journal.

2. Withdrawal During Peer Review

Withdrawal requests submitted after peer review has started will be assessed by the editorial team. Authors must provide a reasonable explanation for the request. The journal may consider the current stage of review, the work already undertaken by editors and reviewers, and any relevant ethical concerns before confirming the withdrawal.

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to another journal while it remains under consideration by JCОDA. They should first obtain written confirmation that the withdrawal has been completed.

3. Withdrawal After Acceptance

Requests to withdraw an accepted manuscript are subject to editorial review and must include a clear justification. The journal will assess the circumstances, including whether production or publication preparations have begun. Withdrawal after acceptance is not automatic and requires written confirmation from the editorial office. Where the request involves an authorship dispute, ethical concern, or other serious issue, the journal may seek additional information before making a decision.

4. Withdrawal After Publication

Once an article has been formally published, it cannot ordinarily be treated as a routine manuscript withdrawal. Requests to remove or withdraw a published article will be evaluated under the journal's applicable publication ethics procedures. Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate action may be a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction. The journal will preserve the scholarly record and provide a transparent notice when an editorial action is necessary.

5. Grounds for Withdrawal

A withdrawal request may be considered for legitimate reasons, including but not limited to:

Substantial Errors The authors identify significant errors that require major reassessment of the manuscript.

Authorship Disputes A legitimate disagreement concerning authorship or author contributions requires resolution.

Ethical or Legal Issues A concern involving consent, permissions, research ethics, or legal rights requires further action.

Other Justifiable Reasons Other substantiated circumstances that make continued consideration inappropriate.

Withdrawal will not be used to avoid legitimate peer-review criticism, conceal research misconduct, or facilitate duplicate submission or publication.

6. Withdrawal Procedure

Authors requesting withdrawal must follow the formal procedure below:

Submit a Written Request The corresponding author sends a formal request to the editorial office, stating the manuscript title, submission number, and reason for withdrawal.

Confirm Author Agreement The journal may request written confirmation that all co-authors have been informed of and agree with the withdrawal request.

Editorial Assessment The editorial team reviews the request, considers the manuscript's status, and determines whether additional clarification is required.

Written Confirmation The journal communicates its decision in writing. The manuscript is considered withdrawn only after formal confirmation by the editorial office.

7. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that a withdrawal request is genuine, justified, and communicated transparently. The corresponding author should coordinate with all co-authors and disclose any relevant circumstances that may affect the decision. Authors must not submit the manuscript elsewhere until withdrawal has been formally confirmed. Any suspected misconduct or unresolved ethical concern may be handled separately under the journal's publication ethics policies.
