Erratum Corrigendum

Erratum and Corrigendum Policy

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal provides a formal process for correcting errors identified in published articles through the publication of errata or corrigenda, as appropriate.

1. Purpose and Definitions

An erratum is a correction issued to address an error introduced during the publication or production process. A corrigendum is a correction issued to address an error originating from the author or authors of a published article. Both are intended to correct the scholarly record transparently without unnecessarily compromising the original publication.

2. Eligible Corrections

The journal may publish an erratum or corrigendum when a published article contains an error that requires formal correction but does not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions of the work. Examples may include:

  • Errors in author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, or other publication details.
  • Typographical, formatting, or production errors that affect the clarity or interpretation of the article.
  • Incorrect values, labels, equations, figures, tables, or references that can be corrected without undermining the principal findings.
  • Other factual or methodological inaccuracies that require clarification or correction while leaving the article's overall validity intact.

3. Submission and Assessment Process

Authors who identify an error in their published article should promptly notify the editorial office and provide the article title, DOI or publication details, a clear description of the error, the proposed correction, and an explanation of its potential impact on the article.

The editor will assess the proposed correction and may consult the authors, editorial team, reviewers, or relevant subject-matter experts when necessary. The assessment will consider:

  • The nature, origin, and significance of the error.
  • Whether the error affects the interpretation, reproducibility, or conclusions of the article.
  • Whether a formal correction notice is sufficient or further editorial action is required.

4. Publication of Correction Notices

Approved corrections will be published as a separate, clearly identified notice linked to the original article. The notice will describe the error and state the correction in a transparent and accessible manner. Where applicable, it will identify the original article through its title, authors, publication details, and DOI.

The original article will remain part of the scholarly record. Where technically and editorially appropriate, the online article may include a link to the correction notice, and the correction notice will link back to the original publication. Any changes to the article itself will be documented transparently.

5. Corrections Affecting Research Validity

If an identified error substantially affects the reliability, validity, or conclusions of a published article, a simple erratum or corrigendum may not be sufficient. The editor will evaluate the circumstances and may consider additional action, including an expression of concern or retraction, in accordance with the journal's editorial and publication ethics policies.

6. Editorial Independence and Transparency

Decisions concerning errata and corrigenda are made by the editorial team based on the nature of the error and its implications for the scholarly record. Corrections will be handled fairly, consistently, and transparently, without undue influence from authors, institutions, or other parties. The journal will not use a correction notice to conceal research misconduct or to replace a necessary retraction.

Commitment to Publication Integrity

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) is committed to correcting the scholarly record whenever necessary. Through clear correction procedures and transparent publication practices, the journal seeks to preserve the accuracy, credibility, and trustworthiness of published research.
