Archiving Policy

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) is committed to preserving published scholarly content and maintaining long-term access to its articles. This Archiving Policy outlines the journal's approach to digital preservation, continued accessibility, and the protection of the scholarly record.

1. Digital Preservation

JCODA aims to preserve its published articles, metadata, and associated publication records in digital formats to support long-term availability and scholarly reference. Preservation practices may include maintaining secure copies of published content, retaining article files and metadata, and applying appropriate technical and administrative measures to reduce the risk of data loss, corruption, or unauthorized alteration.

2. Online Access and Availability

Published articles are made available through the journal's official website. JCODA seeks to maintain access to its published content for readers, researchers, authors, and academic institutions. The journal will make reasonable efforts to address technical disruptions and restore access when service interruptions occur.

3. Long-Term Preservation Measures

To support the long-term preservation of scholarly materials, JCODA may use appropriate preservation measures, depending on the technical resources and services available to the journal. These measures may include:

Digital Backup Maintaining backup copies of journal content and relevant publication records to reduce the risk of accidental loss.
Metadata Retention Preserving article titles, author information, abstracts, publication details, identifiers, and other available metadata.
File Integrity Applying appropriate administrative and technical practices to protect digital files against loss or unintended modification.
Preservation Services Using suitable external archiving or digital preservation services when available and formally adopted by the journal.

4. LOCKSS and CLOCKSS

LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) are digital preservation initiatives that help participating publishers and libraries preserve scholarly content. Participation in these services may provide an additional preservation layer. JCODA will identify such services as part of its archiving arrangements only if the journal has formally joined and its content is covered by the relevant service.

5. Access in the Event of Website Disruption

If the journal's website becomes temporarily or permanently unavailable, JCODA will make reasonable efforts to restore access to its published content. Where preserved copies or suitable external archives are available, these may help maintain access to the scholarly record. The availability of content through an external archive depends on the preservation arrangements in place and the coverage provided by the relevant service.

6. Preservation of the Scholarly Record

JCODA is committed to maintaining the integrity of its published record. Corrections, retractions, and other editorial notices will be linked to the relevant articles where applicable so that readers can identify updates to the scholarly record. Published content will not be silently altered in a way that misleads readers about the article's publication history.

Commitment to Long-Term Access

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) recognizes digital preservation as an essential part of responsible scholarly publishing. The journal seeks to maintain the accessibility, authenticity, and integrity of its published content through appropriate preservation practices and transparent communication about its archiving arrangements.
