Post-Publication Discussion

Post-Publication Discussion Policy

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) supports constructive scholarly discussion after publication as part of its commitment to transparency, academic exchange, and research integrity. Post-publication discussion enables readers, researchers, and authors to raise questions, clarify interpretations, identify potential limitations, and contribute to the ongoing evaluation of published research.

1. Scope of Discussion

Post-publication discussion may address the scientific content, methodology, data interpretation, reproducibility, conclusions, or broader implications of an article published in JCODA. Submissions may include:

  • Scholarly comments or observations concerning a published article.
  • Questions about methods, datasets, analytical procedures, or reported results.
  • Evidence-based critiques, alternative interpretations, or suggestions for further research.
  • Concerns regarding possible errors, reproducibility, research integrity, or publication ethics.

2. Submission Requirements

Readers who wish to submit a post-publication comment should contact the editorial office and identify the article under discussion, preferably by providing its title, authors, publication details, and DOI or article URL. The submission should clearly explain the issue being raised and provide relevant evidence or references where appropriate.

Submissions must be original, relevant to the published work, written in a professional manner, and supported by verifiable evidence where factual or scientific claims are made. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, discriminatory language, and unsupported allegations are not acceptable.

3. Editorial Assessment

The editorial team will assess each submission for relevance, scholarly merit, clarity, supporting evidence, and compliance with publication ethics. The editor may consult the original authors, independent experts, or other appropriate parties when necessary.

The journal may accept a submission for publication, request revisions, invite a response from the original authors, or decline the submission if it falls outside the scope of the policy or does not meet the journal's editorial standards. Editorial decisions will be made fairly and independently.

4. Author Responses

When appropriate, the authors of the original article may be invited to respond to comments or criticisms. Responses should address the substantive points raised, provide supporting explanations or evidence, and maintain a respectful academic tone. The journal may publish the comment and response together or link them to the original article to support balanced scholarly discussion.

5. Publication and Linking

Accepted comments and responses may be published as separate scholarly contributions and linked to the relevant article where technically and editorially appropriate. Publication will follow the journal's applicable editorial procedures and may include appropriate metadata and references to the original work. Publication of a comment does not automatically imply endorsement of its claims by the journal.

6. Research Integrity Concerns

Concerns that suggest significant errors, unreliable findings, plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or other potential research misconduct will be assessed separately from ordinary scholarly debate. Where warranted, the journal may contact the authors or their institutions and take appropriate action under its publication ethics policies, including issuing a correction, expression of concern, or retraction.

7. Ethical and Professional Conduct

All participants in post-publication discussion are expected to uphold academic integrity, respect differing scholarly perspectives, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and protect confidential or sensitive information. The journal reserves the right to reject or moderate submissions that violate these principles or applicable editorial policies.

Commitment to Open Scholarly Dialogue

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) recognizes that scholarly communication continues after publication. By encouraging evidence-based discussion and providing a fair process for addressing concerns, the journal aims to strengthen the reliability, transparency, and ongoing value of published research.
