The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) is committed to promoting originality, transparency, and responsible scholarly communication. Duplicate publication and redundant submission undermine the integrity of academic publishing by presenting the same or substantially overlapping research as multiple independent contributions. JCODA therefore requires authors to submit manuscripts that represent original scholarly contributions and are not simultaneously under consideration by another journal.
Authors must not submit or publish the same manuscript, or substantially similar research findings, in multiple journals without appropriate disclosure and editorial approval where applicable. A manuscript submitted to JCODA must not be under active consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for disclosing any related manuscripts, previous publications, preprints, conference papers, or other outputs that may overlap with the submitted work.
Duplicate or redundant publication may occur in several ways. The editorial team evaluates each case based on the degree of overlap, the originality of the contribution, disclosure practices, and the publication history of the work.
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time without the journals' explicit agreement.
Publishing the same or substantially similar article in more than one publication without proper disclosure, justification, or authorization.
Dividing a single research project into multiple papers with substantial overlap and limited independent contributions in a way that misrepresents the novelty of each article.
Publishing research findings that substantially repeat previously disseminated results without a sufficiently distinct contribution or adequate acknowledgment of the earlier work.
Failing to disclose a related manuscript, previously published article, conference paper, or other output that overlaps materially with the submitted work.
Reusing substantial portions of previously published material or results as if they were entirely new, without transparent disclosure and appropriate citation.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions comply with JCODA's requirements for originality and exclusive consideration. All authors should review the manuscript's publication history and disclose relevant overlaps before submission.
The availability of a preprint or an earlier conference version does not automatically constitute duplicate publication. Such cases will be assessed according to the nature of the earlier work, the extent of overlap, the novelty of the submitted manuscript, relevant copyright and licensing terms, and the journal's applicable policies.
Authors must disclose relevant prior dissemination at submission and clearly identify the new contribution of the manuscript. A substantially expanded conference paper may be considered when it offers meaningful additional research, analysis, results, or insights and complies with applicable publication requirements. Acceptance is subject to editorial evaluation and is not guaranteed.
JCODA may examine submissions for overlapping content and related publication records as part of its editorial assessment. Similarity-checking software, bibliographic searches, and editorial judgment may be used to identify potential duplicate or redundant publication.
Textual similarity alone does not establish duplicate publication. The editorial team considers whether the overlapping material is properly cited, whether the research questions and findings are distinct, whether the new manuscript provides a meaningful contribution, and whether prior dissemination has been disclosed. Legitimate overlap in references, standard methods, or properly acknowledged material is assessed in context.
When potential duplicate submission or publication is identified, JCODA will review the circumstances and determine an appropriate response based on the evidence, the extent of overlap, the authors' disclosures, and the stage of the publication process.
Authors will be given an appropriate opportunity to respond to concerns before a final decision is made, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the scholarly record or meet applicable obligations.
JCODA is committed to handling suspected duplicate publication objectively, consistently, and confidentially to the extent possible. Editorial decisions will take into account the evidence, the context of prior dissemination, the degree of overlap, and the authors' explanations. The purpose of this policy is to protect the originality, reliability, and transparency of the scholarly record.
JCODA expects every submission to contribute responsibly to the advancement of knowledge. Authors, reviewers, and editors share responsibility for preventing duplicate publication, ensuring appropriate disclosure, and maintaining trust in academic research and scholarly communication.
