Authorship

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) recognizes authorship as an important acknowledgment of scholarly contribution and responsibility. All individuals listed as authors must have made substantial contributions to the research and must be able to take public responsibility for their contributions to the work. Authorship must accurately reflect the contributions of each individual involved in the research and manuscript preparation.

Authorship Criteria

To qualify for authorship in JCODA, contributors should satisfy the following criteria:

Research Contribution

Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the research, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of results, or development of essential research methods.

Manuscript Preparation

Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

Final Approval

Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before it is submitted or published.

Accountability

Agree to be accountable for the integrity and accuracy of the work and cooperate in addressing questions or concerns about any part of the research.

Responsibilities of Authors

All authors share responsibility for the submitted manuscript and are expected to:

  • Ensure that the manuscript is original and that all sources are properly acknowledged.
  • Verify the accuracy and integrity of the research data, analysis, and conclusions.
  • Approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission to JCoda.
  • Disclose funding sources, competing interests, and relevant contributions from other individuals.
  • Respond constructively to editorial queries, reviewer comments, and requests for clarification.
  • Cooperate with the journal in investigating any concerns about research integrity or publication ethics.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial office throughout submission, peer review, and publication. This author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the manuscript, that authorship information is accurate, and that relevant declarations and supporting documents are provided when required. The corresponding author should also communicate editorial decisions and requests to all co-authors.

Author Order and Changes in Authorship

The order of authors should be agreed upon by all contributors before submission and should reflect the authors' agreed contributions. Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be justified and approved by all authors concerned. JCoda may request written confirmation from the authors before considering changes to the authorship list.

Acknowledgment of Contributors

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission. Such contributions may include technical assistance, language editing, administrative support, or general supervision. Acknowledgment must not be used as a substitute for authorship when the relevant criteria are met.

CRediT Author Contribution Statement

JCoda encourages authors to provide a Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) statement specifying the individual contributions of each author. This statement promotes transparency and helps readers understand the roles of contributors in the research and manuscript preparation. Authors should ensure that all declared contributions are accurate and agreed upon by the contributors.

Unethical Authorship Practices

JCoda does not permit unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Gift or honorary authorship: listing individuals who have not made qualifying contributions.
  • Ghost authorship: omitting individuals who made substantial qualifying contributions.
  • False authorship claims: misrepresenting an individual's role or contribution.
  • Unauthorized authorship changes: adding, removing, or changing author order without appropriate agreement.

Suspected authorship misconduct may be investigated by the editorial team and may result in rejection, publication delays, corrections, or other appropriate action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures.

AI Tools and Authorship

Artificial intelligence tools and large language models cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of scholarly work. Authors remain fully accountable for all content submitted to JCoda and must disclose the use of AI-assisted technologies in accordance with the journal's applicable policies.

Commitment to Responsible Authorship

By submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA), all authors confirm that the authorship information is accurate, the contributions have been appropriately represented, and all listed authors accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.
