The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and credibility of the scholarly record. The journal does not tolerate research or publication misconduct and follows recognized publication ethics principles, including relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), when addressing suspected violations. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold ethical standards throughout the research and publication process.
Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, the following practices:
Using another person's words, ideas, data, images, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment or attribution.
Inventing research data, observations, experiments, or results and presenting them as genuine findings.
Manipulating research materials, methods, data, images, or results in a way that misrepresents the research record.
Publishing substantially overlapping work without appropriate disclosure or submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.
Inappropriately adding citations to inflate citation counts, influence metrics, or serve interests unrelated to the scholarly relevance of the cited work.
Including individuals who do not qualify for authorship, omitting eligible contributors, or making unauthorized changes to the authorship list.
Failing to disclose financial, professional, institutional, or personal interests that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its publication.
Interfering with the peer-review process, providing false reviewer identities, attempting to influence reviewers improperly, or submitting fabricated review reports.
Concerns about potential research or publication misconduct may be reported to the editorial office. Reports should, where possible, include sufficient information and supporting evidence to enable a fair assessment.
JCODA will assess allegations carefully and impartially. Confidentiality will be maintained as far as practicable, and information will be shared only with individuals who need it to assess or investigate the concern. Reports will be handled without presuming misconduct before the available evidence has been evaluated.
The editorial team reviews the allegation and available evidence to determine whether further investigation is warranted.
Where appropriate, the authors or other relevant parties may be asked to respond and provide clarification or supporting documentation.
The available evidence and responses are assessed objectively, with additional expert advice or institutional consultation sought when necessary.
The journal determines an appropriate response based on the nature and seriousness of the concern and the evidence available.
Depending on the findings and the stage of publication, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:
JCODA aims to handle all allegations fairly, consistently, and without bias. Individuals involved will be given an appropriate opportunity to respond when circumstances permit. Editorial actions will be based on the available evidence, the seriousness of the issue, and relevant ethical guidance. A concern or allegation alone does not establish that misconduct has occurred.
