Plagiarism

The Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring that all published articles meet the highest standards of ethical scholarly publishing. Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is not tolerated by the journal.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, images, tables, figures, or data from other sources without proper citation and acknowledgment.
  • Presenting another individual's work, ideas, or findings as one's own.
  • Using substantial portions of previously published work without appropriate attribution.
  • Self-plagiarism, including the reuse of significant parts of an author's own published work without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing another author's work without appropriate attribution.
  • Duplicate, redundant, or simultaneous publication.

Similarity Screening

All manuscripts submitted to Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA) undergo plagiarism screening using recognized similarity detection software before entering the peer-review process.

Similarity reports are carefully evaluated by the Editorial Board to distinguish legitimate scholarly overlap, such as references, quotations, methodology descriptions, and standard technical terminology, from potential plagiarism or unethical reuse of content.

Similarity Threshold

  • Manuscripts should generally demonstrate an overall similarity index of 20% or less.
  • Similarity originating from references, properly cited quotations, standard methodological descriptions, and commonly used technical terms may be excluded from editorial assessment.
  • Manuscripts exceeding the acceptable similarity threshold may be returned to authors for revision, subjected to further investigation, or rejected at the discretion of the Editorial Board.

Editorial Actions

If plagiarism or excessive similarity is identified during editorial evaluation or peer review, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:

Before Publication

  • Request revision and appropriate citation.
  • Request clarification or explanation from the authors.
  • Suspend editorial consideration pending investigation.
  • Reject the manuscript.

After Publication

  • Publish a correction or erratum.
  • Issue a formal retraction.
  • Remove content from the journal website when necessary.
  • Notify authors' institutions, funders, or relevant authorities.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • All submitted work is original.
  • All sources are properly cited and referenced.
  • Quoted material is clearly identified.
  • Necessary permissions have been obtained when required.
  • The manuscript complies with accepted academic, ethical, and publishing standards.

Authors are strongly encouraged to perform similarity checks prior to submission to ensure compliance with this policy.

Self-Plagiarism Policy

Authors must not reuse substantial portions of their previously published work without appropriate citation and disclosure. When extending prior research, authors must clearly identify the original publication and explain the novel contribution of the submitted manuscript.

Ethical Compliance

JCODA follows internationally recognized publication ethics standards and may refer cases of suspected plagiarism or publication misconduct to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for investigation and resolution.

Policy Statement

By submitting a manuscript to Journal of Computer and Data Science (JCODA), authors confirm that their work is original, has not been submitted elsewhere, and complies fully with this Plagiarism Policy. Any confirmed violation may result in manuscript rejection, publication correction, article retraction, or notification of the relevant institutions and authorities.
