Guidelines for Editorial on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Editors may use Generative Artificial Intelligence tools only in ways that do not compromise manuscript confidentiality, editorial independence, research integrity, or the security of author and reviewer information.

Confidentiality Restriction

Editors must not upload confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, unpublished research data, editorial correspondence, or identifiable author and reviewer information into public or unauthorized AI systems.

Human Editorial Responsibility

AI tools must not independently determine whether a manuscript should be accepted, rejected, or revised. Final editorial decisions remain the responsibility of qualified human editors.

Verification

Editors remain responsible for verifying the accuracy of any AI-assisted content and for ensuring that AI-generated information does not introduce bias, fabricated references, inaccurate claims, or inappropriate decisions.
